Google officially announces Google Games, + developer platform. Zynga already on board

Google today announced that the Google Plus platform is also a gaming platform.

Today we’re adding games to Google+. With the Google+ project, we want to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to the web. But sharing is about more than just conversations. The experiences we have together are just as important to our relationships. We want to make playing games online just as fun, and just as meaningful, as playing in real life.

That means giving you control over when you see games, how you play them and with whom you share your experiences. Games in Google+ are there when you want them and gone when you don’t.

Facebook stalwart and Google fundee Zynga is already on the list having built an app called Poker.  So are Bejeweled and Angry Birds(below).

As an added bonus, google today announced the Google+ Developer Platform so that other game makers can build their wares into the Plus platform.

Welcome to the Google+ Platform blog! Only 6 weeks ago we launched the Google+ project to fix sharing on the Web. Since then, tens of thousands of you have expressed an overwhelming desire to build applications for Google+ — we can’t wait to help you out. This blog will be your official source of information and announcements on the Google+ platform. Although we’re not ready to get your coding engines running, we do have some small updates to share as we prepare to open the gates.

In today’s launch of games on Google+, you can now see the first of many types of integrations that we hope to help you build. We chose to start with a small number of partners so that we could experiment, get the kinks out of our APIs, and get real end-user feedback before opening up to the world.

Following today’s launch, I’d like to give you a preview of how we’re going to roll out the platform. Because we want to provide both a great user experience and a great developer experience, we’re focusing on quality before quantity. We will continue to add new partners and new features in small steps, starting with today’s release of the games APIs to a small number of developers. We’re keeping a close eye on feedback, and are eager to open up more access as soon as it’s ready.

If you’re a developer interested in building for the Google+ platform, let us know and we’ll contact you when we have something for you to preview. Just remember, like the rest of the Google+ project this is only the beginning, so stay tuned.

One final note, you can now “Plus” you favorite Google Books.
