Google+ launches family hangouts for the holidays with customized Wallace & Gromit video invitations, holiday effects app

Google announced today a new way for families to connect using Google+ video chat Hangouts during the holidays. Instead of just inviting your family members to take place in an ordinary Google+ hangout, Google has made the invitation and joining process easier for family members who may not already utilize the feature. By visiting http://familyhangouts.withgoogle.com/, users can easily create and add members for a Google+ hangout. The difference is your email invitation, which asks your family members to join, will arrive with a customized short video that features characters from the animated British series “Wallace and Gromit”.

Google is also rolling out a Holiday Effects app today that will bring Santa hats, Gromit’s ears, reindeer antlers and more, as highlighted in the image below:
