Oh, the places you’ll go

Someone at Teehan+Lax may have grown up reading Dr. Seuss as they’ve just created a web service called Hyperlapse, allowing you to create a high-speed Street View animation of any Google Maps route.

The current version seems to create an animation with a fixed time of just a few seconds, so longer journeys are pretty pointless, but it has the potential to be a great way to preview a journey. If you could plug in a GPS track, it would also be a fun way to relive a cycling holiday or special road-trip.

You’ll need WebGL running, so the site is best accessed in Chrome.
