Moto X wood backplate upgrade drops to $25, arrives in Walnut, Teak & Ebony on Jan. 21 (Update: $75 refunds)

MotoX-Wood-Teak-Ebony-Walnut

After months of teasing natural wood backplates for the Moto X, last month Motorola finally introduced a Bamboo option available through its Moto Maker customization tool. Today the company announced that it will soon be introducing three other wood finishes including Walnut, Teak, and Ebony.

When the company first started offering the Bamboo finish it was going for a $100 premium on top of the cost of the Moto X, but today Motorola announced it’s dropping the price to just $25. The Bamboo finish is already available for the new price of $25 through Moto Maker, and the Walnut, Teak, and Ebony finishes will become available on January 21 for the same price.

Update: Reader Shawn just reported that Motorola is giving back $75 store credit refunds for those who bought the Moto Maker Wood when it was $100.  Way cool/classy for Moto to do so before a firestorm forced them to.
