Yahoo announced an update to its Weather app today that brings the high-quality animations for weather conditions it first launched in its iOS app earlier this year to Android.

The animated effects include “fog, rain, heat, snow, lightning, and frost,” according to Yahoo’s blog post, and utilize “bleeding-edge graphics technology typically only seen in video games.”

We’re excited to take your weather experience to the next level, as we make it even more delightful… So, instead of just reading about the icy cold, you’ll actually see the frost creep onto your screen.

The new animations, which Yahoo showed off in the video embedded above, are available in the latest version of the Yahoo Weather app for Android on Google Play.
