Google app updated to version 4.1 w/ new Now card settings and more

The Google app on Android has received an update today, as part of the company’s Update Wednesday regimen. The update bumps the app to version 4.1.21.1657903 and includes a handful of notable new features, including new Google Now card settings and “Ok Google” setting tweaks.

First off, after updating to the latest Google app, users will now have the ability to control settings for Google Now cards in a single new preferences pane. To access these settings, simply pull out the slide-out navigation menu, head into settings, and choose the “Now cards” option. From there, you will be able to manage notifications for Now alerts, delete card preferences, show cards, and manage your card history, as seen in the screenshot above.

Google has also revised the settings for lock screen “Ok Google” access in an effort to make the titles more clear. There is a renamed setting dubbed “Personal results,” which if enabled, allows your personal information to be accessible via the lock screen “Ok Google” functionality. If this setting is not enabled, your personal data will not be accessible from the lock screen.

The update also adds support for nine new languages (via Android Police) that include Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya and Hindi. Finally, the stocks and weather Google Now cards have also seen slight revisions. The interface for the stocks card has been refreshed, while the weather card now lists its source for the data.

The updated Google app is rolling out now via the Play Store. Wednesday is not over yet, however, so we could still see some more updates before the night is done. Google Hangouts shows as having received an update, but there is no changelog associated with it. Let us know if any of your Google apps see an update tonight!
