Best Buy outs the new Nest Cam and software before its official announcement (Gallery)

Best Buy has just outed Nest’s new Nest Cam hardware before the company’s event set to kick off at 10 AM PDT. As you can see right now on Best Buy’s website, the device is available to pre-order for $199.99 with free shipping, and mentions the previously-leaked new Nest app as well as more previously-unknown details on the product.

The Best Buy listing, which was still alive at the time of this writing, mentions the ability to view from the new Nest app, the ability to “stay informed” with mobile application notifications, vivid 1080p resolution recording, support for infrared night vision, a 130-degree field of view, and a new Nest Aware service which will record to the cloud.

According to the product description:

Keep a vigilant eye on your home to monitor for intruders, or to simply keep tabs on your kids or pets with this indoor-use camera. Night vision lets you see in the dark and the Nest app notifies you when the camera detects motion or sound. You can even stream live HD video to your iOS or Android device for remote monitoring, and archive recorded footage.

Overall, it looks like an iterative upgrade that obviously takes advantage of the technology that the company’s $555 million Dropcam acquisition brought to the table last year. The Nest event is scheduled to kick off at 10 AM PDT, so we’ll keep you updated on all of today’s announcements as they roll out.

You can find the Nest Cam promotional video on Best Buy’s site, too.

Thanks, Matt!
