Acer Chromebase Touch: Unboxing the all-in-one Chrome OS touchscreen desktop [Video]

Acer recently unveiled a new range of all-in-one desktop computers running Chrome OS. The Acer Chromebase Touch is one of the company’s most recent models, and it has a 21.5-inch, full HD touchscreen. It’s powered by a Tegra K1 quad-core processor, 4 GB RAM, 16 GB of storage and a couple of 3W front-firing speakers.

The almost all-plastic unit boasts a wide array of ports. On the back, you’ll find two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, ethernet port and power socket. Under a door on the side you’ll find a USB 3.0 port hidden away with a 3.5mm audio jack and SD card reader. Along with it in the packaging you get a USB keyboard and mouse, as well as the usual user manual and quick-start guide along with the power brick.

In the words of Acer:

The new Acer Chromebase comes with a Full HD resolution, 178-degree viewing angle display which incorporates 10-point touch technology2 , enabling more than one user to work, play and interact together. The device boots up in 10 seconds, and has multiple layers of security built-in with automatic system updates. Chrome OS supports multiple users and accounts while photos, videos, music, and documents are all synchronized and backed-up with the user’s Google account.

Check out our unboxing video below and let us know if you’re planning on grabbing one when it hits the market later this summer. It’s going to cost a mere $430, and will be available in August. If you can’t wait that long, there’s a non-touch version available this month for $100 less.
