Leaked 3rd gen Moto G dummy unit confirms IPX7 certification, 2470 mAh battery, more

As Motorola’s July 28th event draws near, more and more leaked images and renders of the upcoming Motorola handset refreshes continue to hit the Internet. This time we’re getting a look at leaked images (via MobileSyrup) of what is assumably a 3rd gen Moto G display dummy unit, and there just so happens to be a sticker affixed that confirms some previously rumored specifications of the device…

First up the image confirms that the device is going to have 4G LTE compatibility — although that was something that would seem obvious for almost any device launching in the year 2015 regardless of price. Also somewhat obvious are that it will have a “Quad-core” processor, and expandable storage by way of an SD card (almost surely micro).

We also have some corroboration on the camera pair that the next Moto G will sport. As is the case with many phones, the front-facing camera is going to be a 5-megapixel shooter while the main camera is going to have a 13-megapixel sensor. As for the phone’s battery, it looks like you’re going to have a decently-large 2470 mAh to work with.

Interestingly, the phone also seems to come with IPX7 certification. This is a common rating for small electronics that might get exposed to (some of) the elements, but are not necessarily intended to be rugged. It’s the same rating that the Apple Watch has, and it means the phone can withstand exposure to water of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

According to a tweet earlier this month from evleaks, Motorola is planning to bring the company’s upcoming 2015 Moto G handset to the famed Moto Maker phone customization tool. We’ve seen renders, more renders, real photos, more real photos, and even more real photos of this device leak over the last couple of months. This dummy unit aligns with what we already knew.

We can say with much certainty that it’s only a matter of days before Motorola shows this thing off to the world.
