More Nexus 6P details emerge as September 29 announcement looms

Update: Even more details have now arrived, thanks to surfaced FCC documents and a developer on the XDA-Developers forum who has managed to get ahold of a leaked system image. According to these sources, the Nexus 6P will have a microSD card, and will also have optical image stabilization, Fi-compatible multi-carrier support, F2Fs stock, and T-Mobile WiFi calling out of the box.

The upcoming Nexus announcements are some of the more eagerly awaited of the year (at least in the Google space), but — as is the case with almost every other Android phone announced over the last few years — there aren’t many secrets that will make it all the way to September 29th. Yesterday, a confidential slideshow outlining Nexus 6P features was publicly posted on image sharing site Imgur, and now that same slideshow has made its way to Google Docs. Although yesterday’s leak gave us pretty much all the information you could possibly hope to get before an official debut, it looks like we now have even more tidbits on our hands…

Although the 5.7-inch size has been long-rumored and is all but confirmed after yesterday’s leaks, we now also know that the device has an AMOLED display — the same as the original Nexus 6. Additionally, we’ve also learned that the phone will have 3 GB of RAM, as well as a 12.3-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Rounding out the new information we have here is the phone’s physical dimensions: 159.4 mm x 77.8 mm x 7.3 mm. As noted by Android Police, that’s roughly the same height as the current Motorola-made Nexus 6, with just a bit less width and depth.

If you’ve been out of the loop on the Nexus 6P, it’s definitely worth reading our report from yesterday as well. The Nexus 6P will have the Snapdragon 810 system-on-a-chip, USB Type-C, a fingerprint sensor on its rear, and availability in three capacities: 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. The phone is expected to have an all-metal build, and will be available in the four colors we saw in a leak from last week.

Leaked <a href="http://9to5google.com/2015/09/22/nexus-5x-and-6p-retail-boxes-leak-ahead-of-september-29th-event/">Nexus 5X and 6P retail box art</a>

The little sibling to the Nexus 6P is also expected to be announced, made by LG and called the Nexus 5X. That phone, according to reports, will sport a Snapdragon 808 processor, a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3 GB of RAM, a 2700 mAh battery, support for USB-C, a 12.3-megapixel main camera sensor, and a 5-megapixel front camera. It will also be available in three different colors (white, black, and a mint variant), and — seeing as its the slightly-lesser-powered and smaller of the two — will likely ship at a price marginally lower than that of the Nexus 6P.

All of this and more is expected to be made official on September 29th, and we’ll keep you in the loop on Google’s other announcements (which will include a couple Chromecasts as well).
