Earlier today we broke down the top 10 best new features in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but as with any operating system change, a few things have changed that are a little harder to find. First noted by Android Authority, Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes the ability to display a battery percentage in the status bar or in the Quick Settings panel via a UI Tuner menu.
The process is rather simple and involves only a few quick steps. First, swipe down on the notification panel to bring up the Quick Settings menu. From there, long press on the Settings icon until a notification appears and takes you to the Settings menu. The control panel is then located at the bottom.
Choose the option named “Quick Settings” at the top and from there you can enable and disable various tiles on and off. Status icons can also be toggled. In this same menu, there’s a checkbox that allows you to enable battery percentage. This option is marked “show embedded battery percentage,” which shows your remaining battery life in the status bar.
To get back to the UI Tuner, use the Quick Menu. You should now have a wrench icon hovering next to it to indicate that the UI Tuner has been enabled.
