HTC’s One Android Wear smartwatch reportedly set to be released in February

Rumors surrounding HTC’s Android Wear smartwatch have been few and far between, but now notoriously reliable Twitter leakster Evan Blass has shared some detail. In a tweet this evening, Blass stated that HTC will launch its “One” Android Wear smartwatch this coming February.

Blass unfortunately doesn’t elaborate any further, but a February release date is close enough to where we should see more details emerge soon. Earlier rumors have claimed that HTC’s One smartwatch is round, much like the Moto 360, and features a resolution of 360 x 360.

A report from September claimed that the device is codenamed “halfbeak,” continuing the common theme of Android Wear devices being named after fish (demo, smelt, others). In March, HTC’s Peter Chou said the company is working diligently on the device as to release something of quality. “We try to be very careful instead of just putting out whatever, so we keep working on it,” Chou said.

As we near the rumored release date of February 2016, we should expect to hear more details regarding the HTC One smartwatch sooner rather than later. Until then, we’re left to speculate…
