YouTube adds Donation cards that make it easy for viewers to support non-profits

Google has today added a new type of card for YouTube creators to add to their videos: Donations. The donation card makes it really easy for viewers to give money to non-profit organizations, and they’re private and tax-deductible just as you’d expect…

The donation card on YouTube makes it simple for nonprofits to raise money using YouTube videos. They’re a simple add-on to your YouTube videos that allow anyone watching to donate to an organization directly from a video. Google covers the processing fees, so the organization receives 100% of the money donated.

The new Donation card should be rolling out on YouTube right now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a little while before creators see the option. In the example that Google provided, you could donate amounts of $5, $10, $20, or other to Project for Awesome.

Google says that all eligible and registered US non-profits will get 100% of the funds that viewers donate through the card. To enable the feature (once it’s live of course), all you have to do is head to the YouTube Video Manager and add a card just as usual.
