Monosnap 2016-06-29 16-45-03

As is often the case with tragic events such as these, Google is now providing free calls via Hangouts, Hangouts Dialer, and Google Voice to Turkey. The company has also begun pushing out Google Now cards for people in Turkey with links to emergency resources, and is also providing emergency information in search for those in Istanbul.

Reuters, for those out of the loop:

In the deadliest of a series of suicide bombings this year in Turkey, the attackers struck the busy airport, a symbol of Istanbul’s role as the Muslim world’s most open and cosmopolitan city, a crossroads between Europe and Asia.

Three bombers opened fire to create panic outside the airport on Tuesday night, before two of them got inside and blew themselves up. Two hundred thirty-nine people were wounded, officials said, giving a full account of the bloodshed.

You can head over to the Play Store or the App Store to grab the latest version of Hangouts for free on Android and iOS, repsectively, or head to hangouts.google.com to make free international calls straight from your browser.
