Sprint today announced a new stylus-equipped Android phablet option for its subscribers, starting with its Boost Mobile customers and coming soon to Sprint Prepaid and Sprint contract customers. HTC’s entry-level Desire 510 is coming to Sprint on Friday, September 19th for $200 outright or $8.34 a month on the carrier’s Easy Pay program. Compatible with Sprint Spark, some of this budget-friendly smartphone’s highlights include a 4.7-inch display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, Android 4.4 and support for HD voice.
Sprint’s prepaid arm, Boost Mobile is now rolling out Android 4.4.4 to its version of the Moto G. As seen with other handsets, the latest flavor of Google’s mobile operating system patches some security holes related to OpenSSL, while adding the ability to pause and resume video recording.
HTC is mostly known for its high-end devices that are built with premium materials, however the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer is starting to make a splash in the mid-range smartphone space. Today, the company announced the launch of the Desire 510, a new budget-friendly LTE-capable phone that’s coming to Sprint, Cricket, Virgin and Boost Mobile in the coming months.
If you happened to miss out on that recent Valentine’s Day sale from Motorola, the company announced on Twitter that it’s offering the Moto X for 1 cent on contract through Verizon or $70 off unlocked. That means you can pick up the 16GB Moto X customized through Moto Maker starting at $329 off contract. The penny deal will require you to sign up to a two-year contract through Verizon, and an additional $50 on either of the deals will bump you up from the 16GB to the 32GB model.
An even better deal is available through Amazon, however, with an additional $100 bill credit for those activating a new Verizon line on-contract. You might also be able to take advantage of that bill credit through Moto Maker for devices activated on Verizon, but there’s no mention of the offer on the site.

After we reported on Amazon offering the Moto X for just a penny on various carriers yesterday, the no-contract Samsung Galaxy S III has dropped down to $260 on pre-paid carriers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. Regularly $400, you are saving $140 (35%) today with this deal.
As you likely know, the S III packs an 8-MP camera with HD 1080p video capture displayed on a 4.8-inch super AMOLED touchscreen. At an otherwise ho-hum Mobile World Congress 2013, LG tried to shake up the mid-range market a bit with the modestly-priced, but 4G-enabled, Optimus F Series. Composed of the F5 and F7 at first, with the F3 added later on (and tipped for its own launch on Sprint), the F-series basically pairs the style and affordability of the L-series (now in its second generation), with an LTE-enabled chipset, and calls it a day.
We’ve learned that Boost Mobile will be adding the highest-end model, the F7, to its LTE lineup in short order. It will be the carrier’s third LTE-capable device, following the HTC One SV and Boost/ZTE Force. Featuring a 4.7-inch, 720p display, 1.5GHz dual core processor, and eight-megapixel camera, the F7 (Boost codename: LG FX1) should prove a popular addition to the prepaid carrier’s handset portfolio.
