Zinio releases magazine reader app for Android smartphones and tablets

Rolling Stone co-founder will no doubt jump with joy on the news that Zinio just released a magazine reader app for Android Froyo/Gingerbread smartphones and Honeycomb tablets. The software exposes Android community to some 20,000 digital magazine titles, including National Geographic, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, O, The Oprah Magazine and more. Oh yes, Rolling Stone, too. Sweetening the deal, Zinio is offering most recent issues of two dozen popular magazines free of charge until June 15. And check out this nice perk…

The company says that Android users who download the Zinio app can explore interactive features in Marie Claire and Seventeen at launch, with more digital editions to follow “in the coming months” from the likes of Harper’s Bazaar, Harvard Business Review and Zinio’s sister company’s exclusively digital title VIVMag. “These titles leverage Zinio’s interactive capabilities to provide an enhanced reading experience including embedded video, dynamic ads, social connections and search”, a press release has it. The new reader app is the latest addition to Zinio’s cross-platform reader software encompassing Windows machines and Apple’s Mac computers and iOS mobile gadgets. Your digital magazine purchases work regardless of your platform choice, Zinion underscored. The Zinio app is a free download from Android Market.
