Jelly Bean finally overtakes Ice Cream Sandwich as users upgrade Android or devices

Jelly Bean (Android 4.1 on) has overtaken Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.x) for the first time, with 28.4 percent of active Android devices now using it against 27.5 percent for ICS …

We stress ‘active devices’ as Google last month changed the way it collected analytics data on Android devices, now measuring only those that connected to Google Play. This was an attempt to eliminate essentially unused devices that might have apps running in the background that ping a Google server, though Engadget does observe that a more cynical viewpoint might say this gives a more flattering picture of the Android market, limiting it to the most active users who are more likely to upgrade both platform and device.
