Google announces Play Edition Sony Z Ultra, available now for $649

Hot on the heels of announcing the LG G Pad 8.3 Play Edition, Google has just released the Sony Z Ultra in a Play Edition model, as well. The device is available now on the Play Store and comes in at $649 for 16GB of storage. Just like the G Pad, the Z Ultra is listed as shipping within 1-2 business days.

In terms of specs, the device is packing quite a punch. It features a 6.4-inch display with a full, 1920 x 1080, 1080p resolution. The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include an 8MP rear camera with an Exmor RS sensor, and a 2MP front facing shooter. It will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat installed, as well.

Google and Sony also tout that the device is build strong to be “touch and waterproof” and can be kept under 1.50 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
