Google turns the other cheek, brings Bing search images to Chrome

Chrome-Bing

Google and Microsoft are rivals in just about every sense of the word, but every now and then these two juggernauts play nice with each other. Case in point, the newest version of Chrome Canary features a new tab page loaded with Bing’s famous images for people who use Google’s browser, but prefer Microsoft’s search engine.

If you’re an internet misfit who uses this type of setup, it will replace Chrome’s grid of frequently visited webpages with a posh photo as if you were visiting Bing’s homepage. Just remember, this feature is only available through Chrome’s Canary build, which is geared towards early adopters, so there will be breakdowns.

Does this mean that Google is over Microsoft’s recently retired Scroogled campaign? Probably not. However, such a kind gesture might make for a decent counter to claims of a search monopoly.
