Google Voice updated with international call rate notifications

We’ve heard that Google Voice is operating on borrowed time, but it looks like the search giant hasn’t completely cut off support for its ailing telecommunications app. Today, the company pushed out an update for Google Voice that doesn’t appear to bring much to the table, except for one noticeable difference.

When placing an international call, Google Voice will notify you that it’s handling the connection and will provide you with its specific rate. If you do not receive this prompt when placing an international phone call, the rate will be determined by your wireless carrier. This simple update is most likely an effort to eliminate any confusion for people who frequently use the service to place calls abroad. Google Play has yet to update the app’s changelog, but so far this is the only new feature that we’ve been able to find. If you’ve already received the update and notice any new additions, feel free to share your findings with us in the comments below.
