Google Now adds improved Calendar and Gmail integration with new inferred events feature

Google appears to have made a backend tweak to Google Now this afternoon that adds a feature rumored earlier this year. First spotted by Android Police, Google will now grab events from your Gmail app and put it in a Google Now card. The Now card will have the option to add the event to your calendar or ignore it.

Gmail on the web has been able recognize dates and times in emails for a while now, so it only seems fitting to expand the capability to Google Now. The feature is rolling out to users slowly starting today and can be enabled via the “everything else” section in Google Now’s settings menu (seen above).

This functionality is, of course, similar to many of the features Google Now can already automatically do. This includes things like pulling tracking information for packages and reservation information out of emails. Who knows what Google will do next.
