Samsung rumored to debut a curved Galaxy Note 4 at IFA

round

Samsung has a history of announcing its latest Galaxy Note devices during IFA, so it’s no surprise that the company is reportedly planning to debut its next king size smartphone in Berlin. The real kicker here is that the device could ship with two different variants. While the South Korean electronics maker’s smartphones have featured various processors in different markets, in the case of the forthcoming Galaxy Note 4, it’s rumored that this handset will ship with two different display types.

According to an unnamed executive of a Samsung partner in Korea, the company will release a Note 4 with a curved OLED screen in “niche markets” and another with a standard flat OLED display as its main draw. A smartphone with a curved display isn’t a new idea, Samsung’s already done it before and its rival LG has produced the the Flex, so this could be the furthering of a new design trend.

In addition to a new Galaxy Note handset, Samsung is rumored to introduce a Google Glass-like device that will reportedly be called “Gear Glass,” however if this happens, we’re hoping the company comes up with a more original name for its smart eyewear. If not, it may want to have its team of lawyers on standby, because we’re pretty sure the folks in Mountain View won’t be a fan of the rumored wearable’s name.
