Sony’s unlocked Xperia Z1 Compact now available in the US for $550

At the beginning of the year, Sony announced the Xperia Z1 Compact, a smaller version of its Xperia Z  with “no compromises.” While Sony’s shrunken flagship looked promising, the device never made its way to US wireless carriers. However, Sony has finally made a compromise and released an unlocked version of the Z1 Compact for $550.

Although its price point is a bit steep, the Xperia Z1 Compact ships with some impressive specs, which include: a 4.3-inch 720p display, a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 4.4 KitKat. If you don’t mind paying a hefty upfront price, the Z1 Compact will work with just about any GSM network in the US and have has support for select LTE bands.
