Turkish bank’s Glassware ‘iGaranti’ gets Google-approved before Glass even comes to Turkey

unnamed

A Turkish bank by the name of “Garanti” has managed to get its Glass app — not-so-appropriately called “iGaranti” — approved on the official Glassware directory. Interestingly, it managed to do this with Google Glass not even yet being available in the country, and also before any American bank even had an app officially approved. But regardless, it seems to actually be a quite useful app.

iGaranti just recently made its way to Google’s curated Glassware shop (via Glass Almanac), and it packs what seems to be quite a large number of useful features. As long as users have the “iGaranti” app installed on their smartphones, the app will show your credit card limit, account balance, a spending limit indicator (as depicted above), “smart shopping offers and coupons,” and “market information” all through the wearable device’s screen.

As described in the app’s listing:

Garanti Bank customers who use iGaranti application on their phones can see their iGaranti push notifications, limit indicator, smart shopping offers, coupons and market information through iGaranti Glassware. So, the customers can check their credit card limit, account balance, market information, smart shopping offers and coupons with iGaranti Glassware without using their phones.

It doesn’t appear that there are any Garanti Bank locations in the US nor the UK, which is rather odd as those are the only two countries where the Explorer Edition of Google Glass has officially launched. Chances are this app is absolutely useless for you, but it’s still interesting nonetheless that no American banks have had similar Glassware yet get the official stamp of approval from Google.
