It’s no great surprise that Sony is now teasing three new Xperia 3 devices in a short video on its YouTube channel, pointing to their official announcement at the IFA next week …

Sony sent out invitations to an IFA media event earlier in the month, and it took exactly one day before renders of the two smartphones were leaked, believed to be the flagship Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. These appeared consistent with earlier claimed photos.

No specs were leaked, but earlier rumors suggest the Z3 will have a 5.15-inch 1080p display, be powered by a 2.4GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU, have 3GB of RAM, 16GB storage and be equipped with a 20.4MP rear camera. The Z3 Compact is said to have similar specs but with a 4.3-inch screen or thereabouts. Hi-res photos followed, along with a teardown.

Sony later appeared to accidentally reveal the existence of a third Z3 device – a compact tablet – though we’ve seen nothing yet in the way of specs for this.

The video is consistent with all of the leaks, showing three different-sized devices in silhouette. We’ll of course be bringing you full coverage of this and other launches from the IFA next week.
