NVIDIA inadvertently outs Google’s HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet

Rumor has it that HTC is working on a Nexus tablet for Google and it looks a set of legal documents may have confirmed such claims. In a filing from an ongoing patent lawsuit against Qualcomm and Samsung, NVIDIA may have inadvertently revealed Google’s next purebred tablet. In a claim form discussing its Tegra K1 processor, the company stated that an “HTC Nexus 9” is expected sometime within the third quarter of 2014.

HTC recently sent out invitations for a media event on October 8th in New York City and while we’d love to see a new Nexus tablet unveiled in a few short weeks, the theme of this upcoming shindig appears to be focusing on the company’s Duo Camera tech. Furthermore, we’d expect the first public showing of a Nexus device to be presented by Google instead of the company’s manufacturing partner.

That being said, it’s pretty clear that an HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet is in the works and it appears that it will be packing a Tegra K1 processor. As for its other rumored specs, the unannounced slab will reportedly feature an 8.9-inch 2,048 x 1,440 display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage and Android L.
