OnePlus’ $40 JBL-made earphones are “coming soon”

Today, Chinese phone maker OnePlus revealed a new set of earphones for its hard to purchase smartphone, but unlike its homegrown offering, this ear gear is a byproduct of a partnership with JBL. Listed as “coming soon” at the company’s online store the aptly named the JBL E1+ Earphones are premium branded buds that will eventually set someone back $40 whenever they go on sale.

In terms of performance, OnePlus and JBL’s new in-ear accessory features 9mm drivers and a sound frequency with a range of 10Hz through 22,000Hz. Like most modern earphones, the JBL E1+ ships with an in-line remote system that lets you manage music playback, answer phone calls and even take pictures.

at a glance JBL teaming up with OnePlus is a bit of a head-scratcher, but with major audio equipment manufacturers like Harman Kardon and Beats aligning themselves with other prominent mobile devices, the move to pair itself with a new up-and-comer starts to make a little more sense.
