LG G3 to receive Android Lollipop update starting next week

LG announced this weekend that it will begin rolling out the highly-anticipated Android Lollipop update for its flagship LG G3 smartphone starting in Poland this upcoming week. The handset maker confirmed that other key markets will receive the update in the near future, with an upgrade schedule for other smartphones to follow at a later date.

The ironic part of this news is that Google has yet to release Android Lollipop for its Nexus and Google Play Edition lineup of devices, asides from posting factory images for the all-new Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. In the meantime, developers have unofficially ported Android Lollipop to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Sony Xperia Z.

“LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is.”
