The ultimate guide to Spigen’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge cases

LEADIMAGE

Let’s face it: there are a lot of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge cases out there. Even before Samsung’s latest devices hit stores, frontrunner case manufacturer Spigen had some cases ready to order. Now that the the phones are in stores, Spigen has a huge assortment of affordable cases to help you protect your shiny new smartphone.

Today we’re taking a look at Spigen’s best options for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge…

Since there are a lot of choices, we’ve put together this ultimate guide to Spigen’s case selection, splitting it up into five categories that should cover everyone’s needs: clear cases, tough cases, bumper cases, slim cases, and wallet cases.

We’ve sorted through all of the options and put together a list of our favorites. All of these cases are available in a wide variety of colors, and most are available for both the S6 and S6 Edge. Be sure to check out the links for more options if you’re interested.

Clear cases

1

First up is the Neo Hybrid CC. This case is particularly great if you’re looking for dual layer protection, but don’t want to hide the design of your smartphone. It’s a clear form-fitted case that has a hard backside to keep the glass protected, with additional coverage added by a colored bumper that snaps on around the outside. Neo Hybrid CC is a perfect fit for anyone looking for a protective case that still showcases the smartphone’s materials and curves.

2

If dual-layer cases with bumpers aren’t your thing, Spigen also has the Ultra Hybrid series for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which is completely clear, but still has the same hard backing. There’s also the Liquid Crystal series, a clear TPU case, and Ultra Hybrid FX series, which provides 360 degree protection using a snap-in screen guard. They’re transparent on all sides. Out of all the clear cases, I’d have to say the Ultra Hybrid is my favorite, as I prefer its simplicity.

Tough cases

3

Need something for your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge that will stand up against the roughest times? The Tough Armor series is probably going to be your best choice. Like Neo Hybrid CC, this features dual-layer protection and hard edges, but the case is opaque, with rugged materials to protect against the worst situations. There’s a 1.5mm lip around the screen, and even a built-in kickstand. The Tough Armor series also features Spigen’s Air Cushion Technology which keeps the device from a complete impact around the edges if you happen to drop it. It’s definitely one of the strongest cases available for the S6 or S6 Edge.

4

If you still want rugged protection without as much bulk, the Slim Armor series is a great choice as well. It also features a kickstand and the same dual-layer protection, but with a  slightly slimmer profile and curved edges that feel great in the hand. Both options in the Armor series are great for protection, but I tend to prefer the design of the Slim Armor cases.

Bumper cases

5

While there’s only one true bumper case we’ve selected for this category, all of them include a bumper around the edge for protection. Spigen’s Neo Hybrid series is similar to its Neo Hybrid CC brother, but without the clear back. This variation lets you recolor the S6 or Edge, using a black textured case that has a smooth finish. It features a colored plastic bumper that fits around the edges, providing its dual-layer protection. Gold, slate, silver, and blue bumpers are available.

6

If plastic bumpers aren’t your thing, Spigen offers the Neo Hybrid Metal, which features a diamond-cut aluminum bumper that fits around a protective case. The chamfered edges around the Neo Hybrid Metal look and feel very premium, letting you pick from three different colors. For a true bumper case experience, the Neo Hybrid EX features an open back design with dual-layered bumpers covered the outside edges. There’s no rear coverage on this one, but the bumpers are extra thick.

Slim cases

7

If you’re looking for trimmed-down protection, there’s a few slim cases we’d highly recommend. First up is Rugged Armor. Essentially, this TPU case is the first layer of the Neo Hybrid cases, a “mechanical design with technical details” that make it look futuristic and ruggedized. It’s a solid choice for keeping the S6 or S6 Edge slim in your pocket, but still well-protected. The Capsule Solid is another great slim TPU choice with the same protection as the Rugged Armor, though softened around the edges, and with extra functionality: this one includes a kickstand.

8

The slimmest of them all is Spigen’s Thin Fit series. This is your basic plastic snap-on style shell. It features an open top/bottom design and exposed buttons. It also happens to be my personal favorite of the slim cases mentioned here, because it offers a reasonable amount of protection with minimal bulk.

Wallet cases

9

Going out for the night, but want to cut down on the bulk in your pockets? There are a couple of great wallet cases that you may want to take a look at. Spigen’s Slim Armor CS combines the ruggedization of a Slim Armor case with a convenient slot on the backside for a couple of cards. It’ll hold your ID and a credit/debit card with ease, all while keeping the S6 protected with dual layers of coverage.

10

My favorite of the wallet cases is the Case Wallet S. This series features a folio-style design with 3 card slots on the inside left panel. The Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge can be secured on the right side within a hard plastic shell, and the synthetic leather frame closes securely with a strap that magnet-snaps into place. This magnetic clip is also reversible and works on either side of the cover. The Slim Armor CS is great for protection, but I’d personally choose the style and class of the Case Wallet S any day.

Conclusions

So there you have it: the top Spigen cases for Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. There are many great choices for a wide variety of situations, but a lot of individual options that might be best for the way you personally use your phone. Hopefully these categories will help you choose the best one for your needs.
