Following the leak of a Sprint document claiming that its Nexus 6 model would receive Android 5.1.1 on May 26th, T-Mobile announced today that it will begin to rollout the update to its variant this weekend. T-Mobile employee Des Smith made the announcement via Twitter and confirmed that Android 5.1.1 on the Nexus 6 will include support for WiFi calling.
The update carries the build number LYZ28E and will include “general updates and security enhancements.” As we noted earlier today, the Nexus 6 is the final Nexus device to receive the update. The fact that Android 5.1.1 will rollout to both the Sprint and T-Mobile models of the device the week before Google I/O implies that Google is making a conscious effort to finish the rollout before introducing Android “M” at the event.
T-Mobile says the update will rollout to a “small group” of Nexus 6 owners at first, but will quickly expand to all users. Be sure to let us know when you receive an update to Android 5.1.1 on your Nexus 6.
