Halfbrick Studios announced today that it is teaming up with YouTube to produce a new series of animated shorts centered around the characters from their hit game Fruit Ninja. The studio already has a number of clips on the video channel including trailers and gameplay clips, but says the Fruit Ninja animated series will be aimed at children age 6-10 with the YouTube Kids app in mind…

“Starting with the company’s Fruit Ninja-themed channel, the two companies today announced the production of a 13 x 11 minute animated series.”

Halfbrick says the Fruit Ninja animated series will be featured both on YouTube and within the YouTube Kids app released earlier this year. In addition to availability on YouTube, the Fruit Ninja game itself will present the animated series as well.

The studio says it has seen over 1 billion downloads of its game on Android and iOS over the last five years and averages 60 million unique players each month.

Halfbrick and YouTube also hit a deal to produce a compilation playlist of community videos made up of “Fruit Ninja-themed live-action shorts, documentaries, developer diaries and more,” they announced today.

The Fruit Ninja animated series is set to debut in January 2016 and will surely be a hit, especially on YouTube Kids.
