Android Marshmallow stock ROM appears for LG G4 as OTA rollout delayed

lg-g4-options

LG said earlier this month that Android Marshmallow is coming to the G4 soon (possibly quicker than pretty much every other non-Nexus smartphone), but a new post by the Korean company on its Poland Facebook page says that the update have been “temporarily suspended” due to technical issues (via AndroidBeat):

Nicolas, update is temporarily suspended due to technical reasons. We will keep you informed about the changes!

That said, it looks like those too impatient to wait a few more days or weeks to get the OTA update are in luck. Thanks to XDA-Developers user autoprime, the first Android Marshmallow stock ROM is now available for the LG G4. To use it, you’ll need the H815 model of the phone, and the technical know-how to install TWRP.

Users in the XDA thread say that this version of Marshmallow for the G4 is pretty much identical to the previous Lollipop build (at least on its face). One user had this to say: “Well I installed it, I am extremely disappointed, there is no difference, all are the same, thank you anyway for putting updating.”

It’s probably not for the faint of heart, but if you’re feeling a little adventurous today and happen to have the H815 model of the phone, head over to XDA and download the ROM.
