SwiftKey 6.0 for Android lands on the Play Store, complete with new languages, themes & two-word prediction

A couple of weeks ago, SwiftKey brought a number of new features to its beta app for Android. Perhaps the biggest on the usability side was the addition of double-word predictions. With this improvement, users can select two words at once which SwiftKey predicts are coming next. This feature — along with many others — has been added to the public SwiftKey 6 app…

Along with double-word predictions, SwiftKey 6 also supports five more languages: Yoruba, Igbo, Zulu, Xhosa and Breton. These have been added alongside a revamped settings menu which SwiftKey claims will make it easier to fine tune and customize the keyboard.

To make the keyboard look even prettier, SwifKey has also created a slew of new themes to download. In total, there are 34 new themes, including Carbon Light which draws inspiration from Android Material Design. There are six new theme packs plus what the company calls a ‘Megapack’. There’s also a new emoji panel to make it easier and faster to find and select the emoji you’re after.

As well as the feature and aesthetic additions, SwiftKey has addressed the following issues:

  • Prediction fixes when tagging/checking into Facebook
  • Randomly capitalized words won’t be added to your language model
  • Greater consistency with swipe-to-delete on Samsung devices
  • No more jumpy cursor or text duplication issues in Chrome or apps using web views

SwiftKey 6 is available to download from the Play Store now. If you don’t see the update, it should land really soon, so keep checking.
