Android Marshmallow update for Huawei Honor 7 being released ‘within the next 2 weeks’

Honor has announced through its official Twitter channel that customers with the Honor 7 should start to see Android Marshmallow land on their devices within the next couple of weeks. Currently, the Huawei brand is rolling out the update to beta testers, and will push the software to all other users once that staged roll-out is over.

Huawei’s Honor sub-brand made some major strides last year, climaxing in its launch in the US during CES in Las Vegas last month. It was also undoubtedly part of Huawei’s huge success in Europe in 2015. Part of that success, of course, was the Honor 7, which surprised us a lot when we reviewed it last year. Its design, build quality and hardware specs were way more than what we expected to find in a phone this affordable.

The only downside, from a completely subjective point of view, is the software. Huawei’s EMUI skin running on top of Android is a little too restrictive for my liking. But that may well get better with Android Marshmallow.
