Inbox by Gmail adds ‘Smart Reply’ suggestions for web users

Google announced today that it’s bringing the “Smart Reply” feature previously only available to mobile users to Inbox by Gmail on the web.

While the feature was originally meant to make it easy to quickly reply to emails on mobile devices while on the go, Google thinks it will also speed things up when checking email on the desktop too.

Just like on mobile devices, clicking an email in Inbox will give you a few automatically generated responses based on the context of your email, and you can easily click one to insert the reply, edit and or send.

Google seems to be encouraged by the fact that a lot of users have already been taking advantage of the quick reply suggestions on mobile devices. Google noted that “10% of all your replies on mobile already use Smart Reply.”

Here’s a look at the feature in action:

The new feature should be rolling out to Inbox by Gmail users on the web starting today.
