Android 6.0 Marshmallow to begin rolling out to Verizon’s LG V10 tomorrow

Verizon has announced today that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will soon start to rollout to users of the LG V10. The update was announced on Verizon’s Advanced Devices Software Updates page and will begin to rollout tomorrow, March 24th. The update comes with build number VS99022A.

As we’ve come to expect, this update includes all of the standard Marshmallow features. You’ll get Now on Top and Doze Mode, as well as a Silent Mode option in Quick Settings. Furthermore, users gain Direct Share, which allows users to more easily share images and other content with specific contacts. There’s also better settings for controlling notifications, while there’s a new settings menu for adjusting Google Services and Apps.

Software Version: VS99022A
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your LG V10. Android™ 6.0 Marshmallow improves your mobile experience with new battery-smart features and enhanced app permissions that give you even more control.

Now on Tap: Instantly pull up relevant information cards.

Now on Tap anticipates what you need in the moment. With a simple tap, you can get cards with useful information and apps that feed your need to know.

For example, if you open up the Calendar app and see an appointment to meet at a museum, just press and hold the home button to view information about the museum. Once you done, you’ll go back to the Calendar app.

Doze mode: Optimizes battery power when you’re not using your phone, helping extend the charge.

For example, Notifications from certain apps may not be received in Doze mode. To make sure you get notifications from certain apps in Doze mode, go to Settings > Battery & power saving > Battery usage > Ignore optimizations.

Runtime Permissions is a new feature to help protect your privacy. Certain apps will now request your permission to use features on the phone.

For example, when using an app that needs access to your Contacts, you’ll see a pop-up requesting access, as shown below.
Silent mode: The Sound profile can now mute the phone in Silent Mode. Just swipe down on the home screen to display the Quick Settings, then tap the Sound icon, or press the Volume Down key until the sound is set to silent.

Direct share: This feature allows sharing directly to a contact or conversation within an app. For example, if you select the Share icon in Gallery (to share a picture), a list of contacts may appear to whom a picture was previously shared. By selecting a contact in this list, the picture now selected to be shared is automatically sent to this contact.

This feature needs to be supported by the relevant app (e.g., Messaging).

Google settings: Changes to Google Services and Apps are now done in the Settings Menu. The Google Settings App has been removed from the applications tray.

Controlling Notifications: You can now control which apps display Notifications on the current screen.

While the update will begin rolling out tomorrow, it may take a bit to rollout to all users. You can manually check for the update by going into Settings > About Phone > Software updates > Check for Update.
