You can now pay $16 to get Final Fantasy VII on your Android phone

This obviously for everyone, but Square Enix is now offering up a download of Final Fantasy VII for Android for a cool $16. That $16 is going to get you a game that originally launched on January 31, 1997 for the original PlayStation. And you need not have any doubt that this is indeed the full game, as it takes up about 2GB of storage space (and you need 4GB to install it)…

If you’re iffy about pitching the cash for the game, note that the Play Store description mentions this is a direct port of the original and that no changes or additions have been made. This means that there are some bugs that haven’t been squashed:

Depending on the terrain and timing of the action, the buggy, submarines, airships, and other modes of transportation may cease to move when the player embarks or disembarks. Currently, the only fix is to restart the game from a data file saved before the bug occurred.

Square Enix also has a website listing the devices it recommends for playing the game, and that it can’t guarantee performance or compatibility with devices not on this list. The list is pretty short, in my opinion, and that’s not exactly reassuring. Square Enix doesn’t list the latest Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and LG phones. I’m sure it would probably be fine, but the list doesn’t even include the Galaxy S7. That said, it seems if you have a Nexus or pretty much any Xperia Z phone that you should be good to go.

If none of this deters you, head over to the Play Store to grab the game right now.
