Samsung’s various tablets are usually quite indistinguishable hardware-wise and the general state of Android on larger screens continues to be lacking. The one interesting thing about the just launched Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen (via SamMobile) is that its 10.1-inch display supports all the stylus features found in the Note 7.

Various tablets in the Galaxy Tab A line share the same name, but with varying screen sizes. This tablet has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display with a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor and 3GB of RAM. The TFT panel is somewhat disappointing and the 16:10 screen ration makes for a narrow device in portrait orientation.

Its 32GB of internal storage can be expanded to 256GB with a microSD card slot and its 7,300mAh battery is rated at 14 hours of usage. There’s also a 2-megapixel front facing camera and an 8-megapixel one on the rear.

The S Pen slots into the bottom right corner and has the same features found on the Note 7. It has various functions including drawing and annotating on images, all accessible via the on-screen pop-up menu. Additionally, the Note’s useful feature that allows you to immediately start taking notes on a blank screen is found here.

Its launching with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Samsung’s TouchWiz multitasking features should suffice until Android N’s multi-window mode. Samsung has only announced the tablet for South Korea at 489,000 won ($440) with 4G LTE models also available.
