Android Basics: How to take a screenshot on the Huawei Mate 9

One basic feature that all Huawei Mate 9 users should know is how to take a screenshot. Just like almost any other Android device currently available on the market, the Mate 9 allows you to take a screenshot using the hardware power and volume keys. With EMUI 5.0, Huawei’s latest device allows you to take scrolling screenshots and features the ability to take partial screenshots with the use of your knuckle…

How to take a screenshot:

1. Locate something on your Mate 9 that you want to capture
2. Hold down on the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time
3. After several seconds an animation will appear letting you know that you’ve successfully captured the image
4. You will have several moments to select Share or Edit before the pop-up disappears
5. If you want to find your screenshots later, open the Gallery application and find the screenshots folder

How to take a scrollshot:

1. Locate the screen that you want to take a scrolling screenshot of
2. Hold down on the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time
3. After several seconds an animation will appear letting you know that you’ve successfully captured the image
4. Before the animation disappears, tap on the Scrollshot option
5. Almost immediately, your phone will begin scrolling down on the screen and add to the original screenshot. It will continue to scroll until you tap on the screen which tells it to stop
6. The scrollshot will now appear on your display for you to inspect. From here, you can Share, Edit, or Delete the image

How to take a Knuckle Smart screenshot:

1. Enable the feature by going to the phone’s Settings menu -> Smart assistance -> Motion control
2. Under the Knuckle Gestures subheading, tap on the Smart screenshot option
3. Toggle on Smart screenshot
4. You can now knock firmly with your knuckle to take a screenshot or knock once and without lifting your hand, draw a circle or square to capture that selected area. You can also start a video recording of your screen by knocking on the device twice with two knuckles at the same time or knock and draw an “S” to start a scrolling screenshot

Note: The Knuckle Smart screenshot is very gimmicky and tends to hardly work
