Google partners with Opening Ceremony for new politically-themed Live Cases

With the design of the Pixel and Pixel XL being nothing to rave about, it’s likely no coincedence that print ads often showcase the phone with a very colorful Live Case. The latest line of Artwork Live Cases for 2017 (via Design Milk) are from fashion house Opening Ceremony and are rather topically-themed.

This is not the first time Opening Ceremony has collaborated with Google. Their previous designs from last year are still available for purchase. The majority of these eight new cases feature floral patterns from the fashion brand’s ready-to-wear collection:

Drawing on 19th-century photographs of Ellis Island, where individuals from diverse backgrounds crossed paths, the Spring 2017 collection is a meditation on the American melting pot.

If you fancy their look and are inclined to coordinate your outfit and phone, the patterns are also available on various pieces of clothing. Additionally, there are two more cases that are stamped with various slogans calling for activism. These are from the brand’s Action Capsule line.

Like all other Live Cases, these new ones feature an exclusive live wallpaper of rotating prints that are only available for each line. Additionally, the shortcut button can be customized to launch any app or other action. In our review, the tactile feel of the button is greatly lacking, but the customization aspects make for a unique look that you can’t easily get elsewhere.

The cases are available now for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, and Pixel XL at their usual $40 price point for a limited time.
