New leaked cases give us a better look at Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and LG’s G6 [Gallery]

It’s not that you haven’t seen them a million times already, or that there’s really much left to wait for. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and, even before that, the LG G6, are well on their way, and you will see proper reviews popping up everywhere (including here, obviously) very soon.

But there are some new images of leaked cases for both which give us an even better look at them, so here they are…

Let’s start with LG’s phone. The G6 — which will likely make its first official appearance at the end of this month in Barcelona — has already shown off its curves a few times, but some Ringke and Spigen cases (via AndroidPure and Androidu, respectively) are offering yet another comprehensive tour of its design.

The first thing we can appreciate, inching closer to an official confirmation, is the round-shaped nature of the weird 18:9 display. It’s still not clear whether LG is just trying to summon customers’ fanciness with a somewhat stylish choice or if there is an actual purpose to it, but considering the overall curvy aesthetics I wouldn’t be mad to hear it’s the former.

The back, as we had already seen, is heavily reliant on its predecessor’s design, sporting a dual camera setup sitting horizontally atop the circular fingerprint reader (which may or may not function as a button). While the first image made it look rather slim, these renders show a device that tends to go a little on the thicker side — however, hopefully, that’ll mean that LG is being generous with battery size.

Oh, and, just in case you still had any doubts — the headphone jack is still welcome. Safe and sound. Just as it is, for what we know, on Samsung‘s forthcoming high-end device, which has an entirely different set of design-related problems. A small set, but a problematic one indeed.

For all the engineering prowess the other big Korean giant is set to show off when the S8 launches in a couple months’ time, I for the life of me can’t understand why they would put a fingerprint reader next to the camera, as the seemingly official cases pictured in the shots obtained by Italian publication HD Blog seem to confirm.

If we hadn’t already seen renders/prototypes — and heard repeatedly that the surface next to the camera is indeed the place where the scanner will sit — I would 100% think that it had to do with some sort of crazy sensor or secondary camera; but nope. I just hope for your hands to be big enough.
