The ZTE Quartz is the company’s first Android Wear smartwatch, likely coming at MWC

Android Wear 2.0 is finally set to debut tomorrow, and along with it, two new smartwatches from LG. Hopefully, the new OS should push OEMs to follow LG’s lead and also release new hardware. Now, it seems ZTE is ready to make its debut with the Quartz

The ZTE Quartz would be ZTE’s first Android Wear device, and it looks like a pretty strong debut. The metal chassis looks quite a bit like the Huawei Watch, just with an overall thicker and bigger design. In pictures at least, the watch does look very nice, offering a stylish yet somewhat sporty design. Sadly, ZTE doesn’t seem to be following the trend of adding two extra buttons to the watch for app shortcuts. Thankfully, though, it does appear to support interchangeable bands.

Currently, the specifications are largely up in the air. Odds are, ZTE will opt for specifications similar to other Android Wear devices, namely the Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, an AMOLED or LCD display, and half a GB of RAM. Hopefully, ZTE will also include features like a heart rate monitor and NFC for Android Pay.

Pricing and availability details are unknown at this time, but VentureBeat speculates that the watch will likely debut at MWC later this month, which of course, makes sense. With this strong release coming, it gives a bit of extra hope for what to expect from Android Wear over the coming months…
