New teasers for the upcoming LG G6 highlight ‘resistance’ and ‘reliability’

There’s a lot to be excited about with the upcoming LG G6 with slim bezels, a new and improved audio DAC, and features like water resistance and Google Assistant as well. However, it seems like there will be a bit more to the LG G6 than what appears on the surface. Now, two new teasers are hinting at improved reliability, and improved resistance.

In a teaser shared with Android Central, LG highlights improved reliability on the G6. This could mean one of a few things, but what I’d expect more than anything else is either a focus on better protection from drops, or the end of the ‘bootloop plague’ which has been an issue for the past several LG flagships.

Starting with the latter, we’ve seen a bootloop issue develop on several LG devices over time, including the LG G4, G5, V10, V20, and more. So far, LG has yet to address this problem, so with the LG G6, the company has a chance to fix the issue, thus making the device more reliable.

On the other hand, LG has previously released a video highlighting features we already knew we would see on the G6, but including that teaser was a mention of the worry of a cracked screen which showed the quote “more reliable” alongside it. Could be a coincidence, but at the same time, a stronger screen leads to a more reliable device. LG could opt to use stronger glass, like Gorilla Glass 5, offer a low-cost replacement program, like HTC, or follow Lenovo/Motorola’s path with a ‘shatterproof’ display.

The likelihood of improved drop protection is backed up further with another teaser shared with Pocketnow. This brief teaser states that the G6 will “resist more, under pressure.” That could easily apply to the screen, but it points even more at water resistance which is expected to come with the LG G6. It’s likely that LG will have the G6 compliant with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, but with this teaser, perhaps it’s possible that the company has pushed the boundaries ever so slightly.

Of course, there’s still a lot to be seen with the LG G6. The company’s continued teasers only have us more and more excited on what the G6 will bring to the table, and we can only hope it will stick the landing. The LG G6 is set to debut later this month on the 26th at MWC.
