Google Pixel 2 & 2 XL: How to take a screenshot

As with any Android smartphone, it’s pretty easy to capture screenshots on the Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL. Unlike other OEMs, though, there aren’t any fancy ways to capture scrolling screenshots or create animated GIFs. Instead, Google sticks to the tried and true method of using the physical power and volume buttons as well as the Assistant to help capture content on your screen…

How to take a screenshot with the physical buttons

  1. Locate the content you wish to capture
  2. Press and hold down the power and volume down buttons at the same time for two seconds
  3. Let go when you see the screen flash. Your screenshot will show momentarily on the display
  4. The screenshot will be stored within the Photos application. You can also quickly share, edit, or delete your latest screenshot from the notification bar

How to take a screenshot with the Google Assistant

  1. Locate the content you wish to capture
  2. Long press on the home button, squeeze the handset Active Edge sides, or say “Ok, Google” to launch Google Assistant
  3. Say “Take a screenshot, ” and the Assistant will capture whatever is on your display
  4. You will then be able to immediately share your screenshot
