How to check for Chrome OS updates

One of the beautiful features of Chrome OS is that it automatically updates itself every couple of weeks. But if you know an update is available and don’t want to wait for it, there’s a way to manually check for updates. Here’s how…

Steps to checking for updates on Chrome OS

  1. Visit ‘About Chrome OS’
  2. Check for update

1. Visit ‘About Chrome OS’

First, launch the Chrome web browser. Next, find the three-dot menu button in the top right corner of the window and click it. From there, hover the mouse cursor over the Help option. Doing that should reveal a new list of options. Now just click on About Chrome OS.

2. Check for update

After clicking on About Chrome OS, a new window should pop up on your computer. Here, you can see what version of Chrome OS is running on your machine, switch the build of the operating system that you’re running, and, most importantly, check for updates. Just tap on the button, and if an update is available, it’ll be downloaded.

When it’s ready, the update can be installed by tapping on the icon in the notification section at the bottom of the screen.
