How to disable the notch on the OnePlus 6

The OnePlus 6 followed in the footsteps of so many other Android flagships that have shipped in 2018. Thankfully, if you want to somewhat hide the display cutout, you can right from the phone’s settings. Here’s how…

How to disable the notch on the OnePlus 6

First, you’re going to need to head into the OnePlus 6’s Settings menu. To get there, swipe down on the notification shade and tap on the gear icon. From there, scroll down a bit and select the Display option.

Now, locate and choose Notch display. After loading a new menu, you should see an option to Hide the notch area. When you select this option, the top bars alongside the notch should go black.

Just know that when you have this enabled, you aren’t necessarily hiding the notch, but you are camouflaging it so that it doesn’t stick out. The status icons and your notifications will still appear on either side of the notch.
