For the past couple of years, Motorola has become less and less of a big name in mobile phones, but that wasn’t always the case. Before smartphones were widely available, Motorola was one of the biggest names thanks to its popular RAZR lineup. According to a new report, that brand is coming back with a new foldable RAZR smartphone.

It was 2006, you were in high school, and everybody had a Motorola RAZR. At least, that’s how Motorola wants you to remember your life ten years ago, in its latest teaser for the upcoming Moto X (or Moto Z) announcement.

Of course, one year later the iPhone was launched and the entire mobile industry was turned on its head. But for that one brief spell, the RAZR was without doubt the most popular phone around, and it turned heads.

If your Android device is not yet a supported device for Google’s new screen mirroring feature for Chromecast, a new workaround might enable the feature for your device ahead of official support.

Earlier this week Google officially started rolling out support for mirroring Android from a smartphone to a TV via the company’s $35 Chromecast HDMI streaming stick. After tapping a new “Cast Screen” button in the Chromecast app on Android, your entire display will be mirrored to the larger Chromecast connected screen. Unfortunately the feature is currently only available to a limited selection of 14 devices including popular handsets from Samsung, HTC, LG. etc.

Today, XDA-developers point us to a root-enabled app that will trick the Chromecast app into thinking your device is supported: expand full story

Our expectations are always tempered when it comes to the wireless carriers and Black Friday specials as its been a long, long time since I can remember a deal that made my jaw drop. It looks like Motorola and Verizon are set to team up for yet another lineup of DROID devices this fall, as press images from @evleaks and story boards from Android Central have leaked. First off, the DROID MAXX looks to be the successor the popular DROID RAZR MAXX from last year. Specs are still a mystery for the most part, but seeing how the RAZR MAXX was a flagship last year, it seems likely that its successor will also feature high-end internals. The big selling according to the leaked ad, however, will still be the battery life. The ad teases that the DROID MAXX will have  “48 hours of worry-free battery life.” The RAZR MAXX was advertised with 32 hours of talk time, so two full days of usage is pretty impressive.

The DROID ULTA’s storyboard doesn’t really give us any hints as to what to expect from the device, but it does mention that the device will be “Only on Verizon. 8-8-13.” More than likely, the DROID ULTRA will be very similar to the DROID MAXX, but with less impressive battery life and a thinner design. expand full story

Both Bloomberg and The Verge have been questioning the wisdom of the $12.5b Google paid for Motorola Mobility last year, though it did get almost $2.5b of that back by selling the Motorola Home cable business … expand full story
