Google is releasing one last Pixel 3a and 3a XL update

By Andrew Romero & Abner Li

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL are solid phones in Google's lineup of Pixels. Unfortunately, today marks the last update wave rolling out to these devices.

For these two devices, guaranteed security and Android update rollouts end in "May 2022." It might take until July 2022 for Pixel 3a and 3a XL users to see the last update.

That means that after this last Pixel 3a and 3a XL update, no more Android versions will be pushed to the device and no more security updates will come their way.

A statement sent to 9to5Google suggests that Pixel 3a series owners shouldn't be expecting a separate update next month, which is when Android 12 QRP3 is expected to go stable for the Pixel 4 and newer.

The last Android update will be Android 12.1/12L (SP2A.220505.002.) This update started rolling out via OTA this morning alongside all other supported Google phones.

Comparatively, this two-month gap is short when stacked up against the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, which had a four-month gap.
