Here’s everything new in Android 16 Developer Preview 2 [Gallery]

The second developer preview of Android 16 is available today, and we are looking at DP2 to find what new features have been introduced. So far, this isn’t a big release.

Over the coming hours, we’ll dive into all of Android 16 Developer Preview 2’s new features and every single change. (The newest updates will be at the top of this list. Note-taking chat head + lockscreen shortcut

  • This has been in-development for quite awhile. It might have appeared for some users already, but we’re seeing it again after flashing DP2 today.

Screen-off Fingerprint Unlock

  • Settings > Security & privacy > Device unlock > Face & Fingerprint Unlock > Fingerprint Unlock

Bluetooth battery ring

Removed: ‘Experimental mode’ display color

Fix for narrow Settings toggles

Resolved issues

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the screen brightness on a device to be set to 0% when the device was woken up. (Issue #379979158)
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Terminal app to display a “No local assets” error when launched. (Issue #380010668)

Known issues

  • Simulated touch events fail while using ADB or accessibility services.
  • Tapping an ongoing media notification sometimes fails to launch the corresponding app.
  • On some devices, the camera screen sometimes flashes if the zoom level is adjusted while recording video.
