Clicks Communicator shipping timeline is confirmed, but it won’t start until the end of the year

Several months after appearing as a preview at CES 2026, the Clicks team is sharing updates on when the Clicks Communicator will release and ship to reservation holders, and it’s hoping to get them out by the end of the year.

The Clicks Communicator is somewhat of a niche device, but one that certainly breaks from the norms of modern-day Android devices in the best way. It offers a Blackberry-style keyboard with a small display stacked above. The company has been building a name on the back of its keyboard case, but is preparing to release its first self-powered Android device.

According to an update sent out to reservation holders, Clicks has confirmed its general release timeline and what the Communicator’s journey looks like in the meantime (via Droid Life). For those who were hoping for a quick process, you may have to be a little more patient.

The update reads as follows:

  • May: We’ll begin sharing glimpses into the Communicator experience: the software, the interface, and the decisions that went into making it feel distinctly like a Communicator.
  • June:  Seeing is believing. We’ll have working units to show, as committed for Q2.
  • Q3: Certifications and testing. You’ll also be invited to configure your order including your Communicator color and keyboard layout. This is also when you’ll be invited to choose your bonus Covers, including limited edition colors.
  • Q4: Production and shipping to reservation holders.

The update says that the team is hoping to ship finished devices to reservation holders in Q4 2026, which is admittedly a ways away. Note that the email seems to mention only reserved units. That would indicate general production is beginning in Q4, with pre-ordered devices going out the door first, as expected.

Prior to that final point, testing needs to be completed after the company is in the right spot to develop working units sometime in June.

Even with the majority of the year ahead of Clicks before the finalized Communicator can be released, the silver lining lies in upcoming updates around the software experience. Again, our preview was quite limited during CES 2026, and a functioning unit was not available. We do know that the company is partnering with Niagara Launcher to develop its own Android experience, so there’s surely a lot to look forward to.

The Clicks Communicator is, after all, geared towards productivity-centric users who need a little disconnect from the traditional slab phone. A form factor like that is going to take a little time to get right.

As for when the Clicks Communicator will release to those who reserved one early in Q4, there seems to be little detail. The company will surely share more information as the expected release approaches.
